English Special Bitter is medium amber in color and not quite as alcoholic as Extra Special Bitter. This beer is aggressively hopped and has the "biscuit" characteristic that is related to all Bitters. It is full-bodied in character with a slight hop aroma. It is reasonably carbonated with good head retention.
