Generous quantities of malted wheat and
caramel malt are used to brew Winter Lager, a classic weizenbock. Bock beers are
known for their intense malt character, and there is no stinting of malt in the
brewing. Two-row Harrington and caramel malts give Winter Lager its sweetness
and body; the wheat malt also provides the beer's deep red-amber color. A
traditional ale hop, Kent Golding, is added early in the brew to impart its
aromatic bitterness. Classic lager hops, Tettnang and Saaz are added towards the
end of the brew.
