This is not related to the Elder Flowers above. In fact, when unripe, these
berries do not smell good and ripe, or unripe, they should not be eaten raw.
However, as a wine, and in various beverages including Sambuca, it is an
extremely popular beverage the world over. In the previously mentioned Sambuca,
it competes with Star Anise.
The taste is sweet, rich, and the berries are very concentrated. On it's own it can be used to make a beautiful "Port" style of wine. | ||||||
