American Chocolate Malt
325° - 375° lovibond, Briess Malting
Chocolate Malt is used in all types of beer for color adjustment from very slight increase in light
styles to very black in Stouts and Porters. The resulting beer flavor will carry the distinctive
roasted, chocolate flavor depending on the amount of malt used.
The chocolate flavor is very complementary in Brown Ales, Porters, Stouts and other darker
beer styles.
In low gravity, light brews, use 0.4 to 1 ounce to increase "eye appeal".
In Porters, Stouts and dark beers, use 1 - 10% to obtain the desired color.
Use up to 10% of total grist.
