It is time to start planning the beers you want to make for this year's edition of our annual competition. This is a great opportunity to get feedback on your beers from experienced judges as well as a chance to earn bragging rights and prizes! There will be Alternative Beverage gift certificates awarded to the top three submissions of each stye and for the top three combined points totals at the end of the year. The overall winner will also have their name put on our brewer of the year plaque in the store.

There will be five styles of beer to be judged and registration for all of them will open on Monday, 2/2/26. Submissions of two, 12oz beers will be due on the last day of the month assigned to each of the styles, which are as follows:

March - American Brown Ale
May - Cream Ale
July - Hazy IPA
September - English Porter
November - Belgian Blond Ale

Entering is free and you do not have to enter all the individual style events to be eligible for the overall prizes. You can register in the store or by email.  

Points and prizes for each event are as follows:

1st place - 30 points and a $30 gift certificate
2nd place - 20 points and a $20 gift certificate
3rd place - 10 points and a $10 gift certificate
Judges - 5 points
Submitted a beer - 2 points

Overall winners receive:

1st place - a $200 gift certificate and will have their name added to the BOTY plaque
2nd place - a $100 gift certificate
3rd place - a $50 gift certificate

Entries are limited to 1 per person for each of the five styles. Judges may not have a beer in the competition for the styles they evaluate. Alternative Beverage reserves the right to adjust these rules as needed.
